Monday 18th August 7.30-9.30 PM
The Women’s Ministry Team are excited to offer an event where women will have the opportunity to grow in their love and service of Jesus in numerous types of relationships and how we can support others to do the same.
Each workshop is designed to help women reflect on the particular issue themselves, or for women wanting to be better equipped to support others who are struggling with the issue.
Workshops are for all BPC women 16 years and over (note: permission slip required for teens to attend ‘Living in a world seduced by lust’). Details of what to expect at each workshop are below. There will be 4 workshops of 2 hours each, so pick one to attend or if you go to both events you can get to two!
Topics on offer:
‘Spiritual nurturing in all of life’
(Sally Parsons & Emily Goncalves)
Spiritual Nurturing in all of life aims to inspire women in developing intentional relationships that spiritually nurture growth and godliness in all of life. There will be opportunities to unpack God’s word on the topic, brainstorm ideas, listen to a panel of women and their experiences, apply skills learnt and come away with practical tools to nurture each other.
‘Serving Jesus at work’
(Simone Thackray)
We will be looking at what the Bible has to say about work, the opportunities and challenges we face in serving Jesus at work, and how we can make sure our eyes are fixed on Jesus in our workplaces.
‘Serving Jesus in the ups and downs of marriage’
(Jess Sowden)
Your marriage relationship has the potential to be either one of the best blessings of your life, or the biggest headache! Using biblical principles alongside evidence-based relationship skills, we’ll discuss how to be more like Jesus in our communication styles, our attitudes, and when marriage is just plain hard. We’ll also practice how best to support friends in hard marriages.
‘Living in a world seduced by lust’
(Jenni Greig & Special Guest: Marshall Ballantine-Jones)
Lust and pornography … awkward! There are lots of reasons you might come to this seminar. You may be the mum/aunty of a young woman, want to know how to respond when someone is struggling with these temptations, be a youth group leader, you might be struggling yourself. With content from an Australian expert geared towards women, this workshop aims to give you information and practical ideas for making positive changes.
- Please note: There will be some explicit content, including open references to body parts and sexual activity that some people may consider taboo. There will be a live Q&A in which a variety of words and concepts may be raised by attendees. We will ask everyone to be sensitive in their word choices but please be aware that words and concepts you may not be accustomed to talking about in church contexts may arise.
- To devote focused time to the issue of lust and pornography we will not be covering topics such as gender identity and same-sex attraction in this workshop.
- Teenagers 16+ can attend this workshop, however they will need a signed parental consent prior to the event.
- Workshop Attendees won’t be asked to discuss personal matters on the day. However, if you do have questions that you’d like to pre-submit anonymously to the Q&A panel you can do so here.
- If you have any questions or concerns regarding this workshop, please feel free to contact Jenni Grieg (0466 914 875) or Clare Merkel (0419 127 630).
Each workshop will be held in a separate area of the church facilities, with no common introduction and limited, facilitated sharing. Hot drinks will be available in the church hall prior to the commencement of workshops on each occasion.
If you have further questions, please contact Sue Smith (0401 351 487) or Alison Burge (0402 596 575).
